EMEKA OGBOH - TUTTO PASSA

Emeka Ogboh’s Sound Installation for The Courtyard of The Uffizi, Florence, Italy.
During the summer 2023 the new Florentine edition of Emeka Ogboh’s in sitù work THIS TOO SHALL PASS – TUTTO PASSA realised by Villa Romana for the Piazzale degli Uffizi, Florence. The project is part of the open house and studios weekend titled a house is a house is a home, and follows Villa Romana and Elena Augudio’s transformative program launched with her appointment as new Director in January 2023.
The sound piece is a new iteration of the original large-scale multichannel project THIS TOO SHALL PASS (2021) initially curated and produced by Euphoria and commissioned by EKHN Stiftung and Kulturfonds FrankfurtRheinMain for the public space in Frankfurt am Main.
“The work reflects on what singing together means in our society, especially in a (post)pandemic and a crisis-ridden world where music and art per se have long been sidelined by other urgencies, sonically interrupts the flow of one of the most crowded and symbolic squares in Italy, the Piazzale of the Uffizi.”
Press release Villa Romana, September 2023
“Through sensory experiences such as hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling and feeling, Emeka Ogboh opens up cultural memory spaces. In his artworks, cooking and DJ performances these memory spaces are sampled according to musical principles, their origins intertwined.”
